State Funeral of Former Governor-General, Sir Carlyle Glean

Grenadians turned out to bid former Governor-General, Sir Carlyle Glean, farewell, departing the land he so dearly loved to his final resting place.

The body of Sir Carlyle was entombed at the Douglaston Cemetery.

Sir Carlyle, age 89, who lived a life of great public service, died on 21st December last year, after ailing for some time.

At his funeral service this afternoon, Her Excellency Dame Cecile La Grenade, in her tribute, reminisced on a word of wisdom Sir Carlyle imparted to her in taking up the High Office of Commander-in-Chief, Governor-General of Grenada.

Sir Carlyle often received the memorable accolades in life and in death, as a man who thrived on humility.

It was a funeral service full of wonderful memories.

In delivering the Eulogy, Nigel Gabriel, the first Grand Child of Sir Carlyle and Lady Norma Glean, remembers his fondest memories with his grandfather accompanying him on errands.

Sir Carlyle’s son, Reverend Deacon Carlyle Glean Jr., in his homily, says while it may be tough mourning, it’s always good to dwell on the spirit of gratitude.
