After A 25-Year Hiatus, Grenada is to renew its membership at the International Labour Organization (ILO) conference in Geneva Switzerland.

Labour and Consumer Affairs Minister, Claudette Joseph, will lead a delegation to the conference which will be held from the 3rd to the 14th of next month.

The conference sets the International Labour standards and the broad policies of the ILO.

This year’s agenda includes the standard-setting discussion on protection against biological hazards, strategic objectives of fundamental principles and rights at work and a general discussion on decent work and care for the economy.

It brings together the tri-partied delegations from the organizations of 187 member states.

Minster Joseph says Grenada last attended the conference in 1998; and she looks forward to renewing networks and collaborating to bring tremendous benefits to the country.

Director of the ILO Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean, Dr. Joni Musabayana, has lauded the Grenada Government for its decision to re-assert Grenada’s presence in the international labor forum.

He expressed optimism about the future, foreseeing positive developments ahead for Grenada.
