Political Leader of the New National Party, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, is gauging victory for his organization in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking in a brief interview yesterday, after signing nomination papers officially stamping his authority for representative candidacy for the St. George North West seat, Dr. Mitchell said the feeling is good one.

In this election cycle, Dr. Mitchell has been sending out signals that it will be his last, and often brands his quest to be re-elected as “One for the Road”.

He says he’s not riding out into the sunset but will be there to guide the party along and also finding a successor on the road to his departure.

Dr. Mitchell says finding a successor would not be left up to him alone, but to the people.

For now, he says, considering the task at hand for June 23, he’s very confident NNP will be returned to office.

NNP Political Leader and Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, one of 41 candidates who yesterday filed nomination papers for the upcoming 23rd June, 2022 general elections…4 less than the amount that participated in the March 13, 2018 elections.

The candidates are vying to occupy 15 seats at stake in the House of Representatives.

According to the Parliamentary Elections Offices, some 87,794 individuals are registered to vote.

CARICOM, the Caribbean Community and the OAS, the Organization of American States, are planning to send observation missions to monitor the June 23, 2022 election.

It’s our understanding the Grenada Government requested that they observe Grenada’s poll and they responded affirmatively.

Most times observer missions arrive a week or two before elections, following they present their report to authorities.

The missions will focus on analyzing critical aspects of the electoral process including the electoral registry, electoral organization and technology, and campaign financing.

The missions are to ensure the democratic process is not tainted and that there are free and fair elections.
