GRENADA BEEFING UP PREPAREDNESS FOR THIS YEAR’S HURRICANE SEASONEAR’S HURRICANE SEASON

Grenada is reportedly setting itself up on the preparedness front, as weather watchers keep an eye on the prospective hurricane season, which officially began yesterday.

The view is that forecasters predict an active season for turbulent weather patterns and Grenadians are told to be cautious, as we hear from the Minister with Responsibility for Disaster Management Winston Garraway.

He calls for a high degree of consciousness in understanding the need for greater hurricane preparedness.

Garraway says NaDMA, the National Disaster Management Agency, is continuously bolstering its preparedness infrastructure to better support resilience building, among other things.

He went further to indicate that a National Disaster Management law to give effect to a robust institutional arrangement for comprehensive disaster management is indeed formulated.

Garraway tells Grenadians not to be complacent and make preparedness a regular routine, as far as it means safety when it comes to natural disasters, such as hurricanes.

Don’t be caught off-guard, Garraway says.
