NIS Expects Spike In Covid 19 Sickness Benefit Claims

With the recent spike in covid-19 cases in Grenada, the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) says it’s prepared for an increase in the number of Covid-19 sickness benefit claims.

The scheme, over the past seven months, has been offering support to persons who have had to be placed in isolation due to COVID-19.

NIS Director, Dorsett Cromwell, says an employee who’s asked to isolate can apply for benefit without a doctor’s letter.

Cromwell says this particular sickness-benefit claim was launched earlier this year and based on current circumstances is expecting to see an increase in the number of claims, being submitted with the recent  spike in COVID cases here.
