On Monday June 15, the Ministry of The Blue Economy and Marine Affairs officially welcomed Regional Representatives for the Launch of “Grenadaโs National Framework for sustainable Ocean Governance.”
The Project funded to the tune of $300,000.00 US Dollars focuses on the key issue that the Ocean is central to national livelihoods, food security, export earnings, and tourism, with fish exports accounting for approximately 40% of the total fish production value in 2023.
The Project speaks to Ocean Protection, addressing the critical issue of climate resilience and the progressive growth of the Marine Sector in partnership with the private sector, Stakeholders and most importantly with fishing communities across the tri-island state.
Minister for the Blue Economy and Marine Affairs, Economic Development,Planning and Cooperatives, Agriculture Lands and Forestry, Hon Lennox Andrews in his welcome remarks, stressed the need for the Marine Environment to be seen as an area of significant economic activity and commended all concerned in initiating, funding and getting the project to this take off stage.

Hon Kerryne in her address, praised COMPETE CARIBBEAN and other vital funding partners for the role they play in securing necessary funding for economic development
Minister James described the project launch as necessary in addressing the ever-growing global challenges that Climatic issues pose to our Ocean.
Making brief remarks at Mondays launch was H.E. Victor Clark, Resident British High Commissioner to Grenada, Francesco De Simone, Chief of Operations, Inter-American Development Bank, Barbados, Katie Birks, First Secretary (Development), High Commission of Canada to Barbados, Global Affairs Canada, Natasha, Caribbean Development Bank, Kayla Grant, Executive Director, Compete Caribbean.
Mondays Official Launch was also attended by Ambassador Jerry Enoe, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Blue Economy and Marine Affairs Issac Bhagwan and Acting Chief Fisheries Officer Nigel Gibbs along with other Ministry Officials, from among participating Ministries
