A new cannabis working committee has been given a 6-month mandate to steer the Government of Grenada on its way forward for the industry.

That’s according to Agriculture Minister, Honorable Lennox Andrews.

Minister Andrews says the Government recognizes the economic and social benefits of a well-regulated cannabis Industry.

He reiterated the Government’s commitment to developing a responsible and evidence-based framework prioritizing public health and safety.

The committee will play a key role in data-gathering through consultations, making Policy and Legislative recommendations, as well as advising the Government of Grenada on the best Industry Model for adoption.

Minister Andrews is confident the committee will deliver the mandate in time.

The Committee Comprises Dr. Shawn Charles; Anslem Clouden; Psychologist, Josh Hector; Tonjah Alexander, a cannabis expert; and ACP Vannie Curwen of the RGPF.

The Government is expecting the recommendation from the working Committee in six months’ time.

The Cannabis working Committee was appointed by Cabinet at its March 25thmeeting.
