GRENADIANS JOIN THE GLOBAL PARADE OF PROTESTS CALLING FOR AND END TO THE ISRAELI-HAMAS CONFLICT

A group of Grenadians under the banner of the โ€œGrenadians for Justice Committeeโ€ has jumped on the global bandwagon calling for mercy unto the Palestinians, still caught-up in the Israeli-Hamas conflict, now 45 days old.

The Israeli defiance comes as a result of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israeli civilians by Hamas, which it is reported captured some 1,400 people as hostages, some of whom were killed in the process.

Israel has described Hamas as a terror group, reportedly funded by Iran, which has been calling for Israel to be wiped off the face of the earth.

In launching its offensive, Israel claimed that Hamas has been hiding in underground tunnels and using civilians as human shields.

Protestors in Grenada today, sympathetic with theย  Palestinian struggle based on Israelโ€™s war with Hamas, marched from Camerhogne Park to the US Embassy in Lance AUX Epines to call on the American Government to influence Israel to stop the bombardment in Gaza and search for a peaceful solution.

There been the intention that a letter to this effect was to be delivered at the Embassy.

Itโ€™s been reported that the Embassy did not accept the letter but said instead that the group should send it via e-mail.

Spokesperson for the grouping, Siddiqui Sylvester, noted the contents of the letter directed to the US Charge De Affaires.

The US is charged for blocking motions at the UN designed to hold Israel accountable, including recent calls for an immediate ceasefire.

They are lobbying for an immediate ceasefire and for humanitarian aid to be delivered to the down-trodden.

At the protest march, there were solidarity messages, as we get a brief snippet of this none from the Paul Bogle Action Movement of Jamaica out in the USA.

The Paul Bogle Action Movement USA says Long Live Palestine, after quoting a statement made by Israelโ€™s first Prime Minister, David Bengurion.
