Grenada reaffirms its commitment in the fulfillment of regional integration and development!

That’s according to Government Minister, Peter David, who, on Saturday, addressed the 21st Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Latin American and Caribbean States Community grouping (CELAC).

He highlighted the fact that CELAC provides a platform for dynamic engagement and regional cooperation vital to combating many challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

REPORT:

David says in this regard, Regional cooperation is vital, taking into consideration the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals being threatened by the disruption of member economies by the COVID-19 pandemic, which also affects the ability to address the existential challenges faced by climate change.

Judging the report by ECLAC on the economic impact of COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean, David says Grenada endorses the creation of the CELAC Fund to provide immediate responses to natural disasters affecting in the region.

He noted that Grenada has had its share of experiences and the difficulties that emerge in the aftermath of natural disasters.

On this score, David noted that the country continues to advocate for compliance with international climate commitments by those who contribute most to climate change, taking into account the principle of common but differentiated capacities.
