Big Parish Claims the 2018 Rotaract National Spelling Bee Title

March 19th 2018: On Saturday 17th March, grade five (5) students from across Grenada and Carriacou, competed in front a packed stadium hall for the title of Spelling Bee Champion 2018.

The one day knockout competition comprised three rounds of competitiveness: Round One (1) Qualifier/Written Round, Round Two (2) – Heats and Round Three (3) – Finals.

Defending Champion St. Martin De Porres R.C School failed to guard the title and was eliminated before reaching the final round of competition.

After keen contest St. Andrew’s Methodist Tonica Alliandra George rose to supremacy to become the Spelling Bee Champion 2018. She was followed in second place by Eden Lana Otway of Alpha Junior and third by Tiffany A. Victor of St. Louis R.C Girls School.

The main objectives of the Rotaract Spelling Bee Competition which started back in 1987, are to foster a sense of enthusiasm for literacy and spelling among grade five (5) primary school students, across the State of Grenada and to build the confidence of the participants.
