With the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season officially concluding today, Coordinator at the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA), Dr. Terrence Walters, remarked that itโ€™s safe to say Grenada has been spared the worst of what was projected to be an above-normal season.

Dr. Walters, however, warns that although the season runs from June 1 to November 30, tropical and sub-tropical cyclone formation can occur at any time.

And, on this basis, he advises that comprehensive disaster management should remain key sat all times.

Seeking to improve situational awareness as it relates to hurricanes and other disasters, stakeholders will later today host an educational engagement.

ย Dr. Walters noted the value of preparation in going forward.

In total, the 2023 season produced 20 named storms, seven of which were hurricane strength, three being major systems.
