Ten Calypsonians have been chosen to come up against the reigning independence monarch, Nevion Cox.
The ten were selected out of the semi-final show on Saturday at the La Sagesse playing field.
The Finalist are: Teacher Eddy, Scholar, Big J, Prince, Sour Serpent, Baraka, Ketura, Superstar and Papa Jerry.
The Standby is Squeezy.
The man spearheading the organization of the competition on the National 50th anniversary Independence Celebrations Committee, Acting Chief Cultural Officer, Adrian Mark, is pleased that the show went down in smooth fashion.
This coming Saturday, the final of the Independence calypso competition will be staged at the Sauteurs bus terminal, with Grenada celebrating 50 years of Independence from Britain.
Mark says the semi-final shows that the artform has a future and calypso is on the right track.
