Hundreds of workers and various unions yesterday gathered at Progress Park in St. Andrew to observe International Workers Day, also known as “labour Day”.

The activity was held under the theme, “Promoting the Goals of Labour, Enhancing Workers’ Rights for Security and Equity,” which saw various presentations from union affiliates.

President of the Grenada Trades Union Council, Andre Lewis, speaking at the May Day celebrations thanked the ruling administration for creating a better and less tense industrial climate, but, at the same time, made a clarion call for them to speed up the pace at which workers will be regularized.

The TUC President went on to speak about the industrial climate on the sister isle, whereby workers were terminated under the new administration.

Lewis made a call for this to stop.
