St. George Resident Charged for Failing to Give Notice

A 73 year old St. George resident has been arrested and charged for setting fire without giving notice.

The charge was laid against Eric Gill, a Mechanic of Mt. Gay, on Wednesday 9th January, 2019.

Gill who has been placed on two thousand dollars bail will appear at the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court on March 12th 2019 to answer to the charge.

The Fire Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force is reminding persons that Section 147 (1) of the Criminal Code CAP 72 (A) Volume 4 of the 2010 Continuous Revised Laws of Grenada requires every person who intends to set fire, or to cause a fire to be set to give notice to all their neighbours.

Persons are also reminded that permission is required by law before setting agriculture fires.

The Fire Department wishes to inform all persons that it will taking a zero tolerance approach to the setting of Agriculture Fires.
