Sensitization Workshop On Law Reform Relating To Violence Against Women And Girls (VAWG)

Violence against Women and Girls continues to plague the nation, and the Government says it remains committed to addressing the issue.

In its continued efforts on law reform relating to the societal-ills in this regard, a number of stakeholders from the legal fraternity, social development, as well as political and civil society fields, were today engaged in discussions in what’s been labeled as a sensitization workshop.

The initiative at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium was spearheaded by the Grenada National Organization of Women (GNOW), in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and UNICEF.

The activity formed part of the Grenada Spotlight Initiative.

President of GNOW, Sherlyn Herbert, emphasized the need for unification, in eradicating the scourge of all forms of violence.

Delivering remarks on behalf of Social Development Minister Delma Thomas, Permanent Secretary, Chrissy Worme, reiterated the government’s position making significant strides in its legislative environment, as far as it concerns the issue of Violence against Women and Girls.
