Say No To Sexual Abuse

The Nation’s educational institutions continue to place emphasis on the issue of “sexual abuse” this month, designated “Child Month”.

In many quarters, sexual abuse is seen as a scourge plaguing communities and this month school children are the ones speaking out.

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development is fully supportive of the school’s raising awareness about the problem.

It’s a time when they march through the streets of the Nation to show their feelings.

A number of schools in the St. George North East area were already engaged in street marches, wearing t-shirts displaying child-month-related messages.

Throughout the coming days a number of schools in the outer parishes will stage marches.

This year’s theme “Sexual Abuse is Real, Protect me Now” emphasizes the need for young people to take a stand and break the silence on sexual abuse.

Over the years the Ministry has been encouraging churches and community groups to help curb the issue of sexual abuse of children in our country.
