George passed away in the United Kingdom Wednesday this week, February 7, 2024, at the time of Grenada’s major 50th Independence anniversary celebration.

He was age 86.

Prime Minister Mitchell speaks in glowing terms of Mr. George who has made a significant contribution to Grenada’s Independence and that his name will be etched in the country’s history.

In celebrating his legacy, the Grenadian leader noted that Anthony George’s name will be remembered by all Grenadians, at home and abroad, for his nationalistic contributions.

Mr. George designed the Grenada National Flag under the directions of Sir Eric Gairy, the Father of Independence, and a committee formulated for that purpose.
