On International Women’s Day, a call was made for the Nation to salute the strides women and girls have made in the advancement of the communities in which they live.

Minister of social and Community Development, Housing and Gender Affairs, Gloria Thomas, says women and girls have shown strength in their endeavours, despite obstacles they may have encountered when it comes to ensuring equal opportunity.

This is contained in her address in celebration of the UN global designation of the International Women’s Day occasion 2024.

Minister Thomas says women encounter unique challenges in the workplace but they also add tremendous value and perspectives.

In a World facing multiple crises putting immense pressure on communities, Minister Thomas says achieving gender equality is more vital than ever, with women playing a very effective role.
