The National Disaster Management Agency, meantime, (NaDMA) speaks of the current oil spill noticed in the south of neighbouring Tobago.

It says it poses no threat to Grenada.

NADMA says it has received reports of a ship which capsized ship off the coast of Tobago, resulting in an oil spill.

The Agency contacted the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) in Trinidad and Tobago, for an update on the situation and was informed that assessments which included satellite imagery and air-craft fly-overs were conducted.

Results indicate that the oil spill is contained to the south of Tobago and that Grenada is currently NOT under threat of impact from the oil spill.ย

NaDMA says it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has said itโ€™s not ruling out seeking overseas assistance in dealing with the oil spill.

Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, said efforts were underway to determine the owners and name of the vessel at the centre of the spill.
