There is concern over a rise in the number of persons being diagnosed with kidney disease here in Grenada.

Currently there are 8 patients on Hemo-dialysis at the general hospital and 10 at a private facility, as well as 6 patients on peri-toneal dialysis at the hospital and 4 post kidney transplant patients.

This revelation was made recently on the “Next Chapter” a ministry of health programme with host Keville Fredrick.

Nephrology Administrator at the General Hospital, Dr. Germaine Bristol-Stanislaus, expresses concern about the prevalence of kidney disease here and highlighted statistics from 2023.

Dr. Bristol-Stanislaus says kidney disease in Grenada is notably prevalent among the working population.

Dr. Bristol-Stanislaus says there are some people in Grenada who have kidney disease and/or kidney failure but are not doing dialysis.
