APRIL 24 TO APRIL 29 Is considered World Immunization Week, designated by the World Health Organization (WHO), and Grenada is observing the occasion.

Here at home. Focus is concentrated on highlighting collective action needed to protect people from vaccine-preventable diseases.

During the observance, under the slogan “Get up to Date, (hashtag) Each Vaccine Counts”, the importance of vaccination comes to the fore.

In his message commemorating the observance, Minister for Health, Wellness and Religious Affairs, Jonathan LaCrette, speaks of the need for people to celebrate the achievements of the country’s immunization programmes.

The health minister says Grenada and its Caribbean neighbors have a sterling history of success in the administration of childhood immunization, but highlighted that vaccine coverage for children in Grenada has dropped.

The health minister has given a commitment to strengthen the island’s national immunization programmes.
