Parliamentarians both in the Lower and Upper House of the country’s governance as of next year will receive emoluments as it concerns carrying out their duties.
This was announced yesterday by Finance Minister, Dennis Cornwall during his presentation of the 2024 1.656 billion-dollar Budget, outlined under the theme, “Grenada at 50: Empowering our People, Transforming our Nation”.
Cornwall justifies it’s a matter of strengthening parliamentary representation. The Finance Minister also announced that in 2024 there’ll be a high level of concentration on determining the nature of oil and gas resources, as a matter of developing the country’s hydro-carbon potential.
Mr. Cornwall rates the government’s macro-economic policies, which according to him, is expected to produce positive results in the New Year.

Debate on the 2024 Budget begins Thursday with the response by Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Mitchell, following which the Parliament will be adjourned to allow representatives to attend the funeral of one-time Member of Parliament, Adrian “Spaceman” Mitchell.
