Culture Minister Justifies Why Police Not Making Arrests For Defying Covid Rules And Having Jab Jab Jump Up With Carnival Cancellation

CULTURE MINISTER, NORLAND Cox, believes more attention needs to be paid to the administration of carnival, now that COVID-19 circumstances have changed the esthetics of the festivity, which was forced into cancellation this year.

The cancellation was designed to stem the tide of the Coronavirus here, but there have been people who paid no heed and have been on the streets in jouvert jab jab revelry.

Whether anything could have been done relative to those who defied authority engaging in the jab jab affair, at a time when carnival was aborted, Cox noted it’s been a case where the lawmen exercised discretion and restraint.

This was part of the conservation when he met with reporters virtually today, in another in the series of post-cabinet briefings.

Cox says the populace is faced with a very unusual situation today, nothing like citizens know it to be, and, it will take a process of education for greater compliance of the health and safety guidelines when considering the risks associated with the Coronavirus.
