Today marks 45 years since the March 13th Revolution when the democratically-elected Sir Eric Matthew Gairy GULP regime was overthrown by the Maurice Bishop-led New Jewel Movement.

It was the first revolution in the English-speaking Caribbean.

One analyst noted that the revolution was infectious with political propaganda and incitement.

It was generally felt that Comrade Leader, Maurice Bishop, was the mastermind behind the change in the administrative and systematic process, which later provoked decent among the higher ranks of the revolutionary regime and eventually their own demise.
