Agriculture Minister, Peter David, in his 2022 Budget contribution Tuesday said the Grenada government is doing all it can to address the Croton scale disease affecting a number of plants on island.

The Croton Scale disease, commonly called “blight” is the cause of greenish-yellow, oval shaped, soft-bodied, sucking insects, 4-5 millimeters in length.

Currently, they have infested over 70 plant species in Grenada, including Sour-sop, Sugar Apple, Mango, Plums, Guava and Wild Coffee.

David noted that his ministry is working on bringing in the Cryptolaemus ladybird beetle to help fight the disease.
