PR — The New Life Organisation (NEWLO) has received a significant and timely boost, thanks to a generous donation of tools and equipment from the Florida Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This impactful gesture was inspired by the vision and leadership of Prime Minister, the Honourable Dickon Mitchell, whose steadfast commitment to education and youth development continues to shape national progress.
Valued at over US $35,000, the donation includes a wide range of tools for carpentry, construction, early childhood education, plumbing, electrical installation, cosmetology, and general maintenance. These resources will directly benefit trainees enrolled in NEWLO’s technical and vocational programmes, enhancing their hands-on learning and preparing them for sustainable employment.
The official handover ceremony was held on Monday, September 15th, at NEWLO’s Palmiste campus, where Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell formally presented the tools and equipment to the staff and trainees. The event marked a milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to prepare young people for meaningful employment and active participation in nation-building.
The initiative stems from discussions held a year ago between the Prime Minister and Mr. Leslie Mc Queen, Chairman of the NDC Florida Chapter, focused on strengthening skills training across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.
Chairman Mc Queen noted that the project was developed in collaboration with NEWLO’s CEO, Sister Margaret Yamoah, and pledged continued support for educational institutions nationwide. He also expressed gratitude to donors within the Florida diaspora whose contributions made the initiative possible.
Sister Yamoah welcomed the donation as a strategic investment in youth development, stating,
“This donation is more than just tools and equipment—it’s an investment in the future of our young people at NEWLO. We are deeply thankful for the support inspired by Prime Minister Mitchell’s advocacy for education and empowerment through technical and vocational training. These resources will allow our trainees to gain hands-on experience and transition confidently into the workforce.”
Prime Minister Mitchell reaffirmed his administration’s focus on bridging the gap between education and employment:
“When we invest in our young people, we invest in the future of Grenada. This donation is a testament to what can be achieved when we come together with purpose and compassion.
