The General Hospital has been recertified as a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)! This recognition highlights the hospitalโ€™s continued commitment to supporting breastfeeding, promoting bonding between mothers and newborns, and providing high-quality care from the very first moments of life.

A brief ceremony was held at the General Hospital on Wednesday morning, where an official handover of the baby-friendly plaque was made to Minister of Health, Hon Philip Telesford, Permanent Secretary, Rhonda Jones, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shawn Charles, Ward Manager, Maxine Dillsworth and Neonatologist Dr Jozan Brathwaite.

The General Hospital was first certified as a baby-friendly hospital in 2019 under the global standards of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.

This achievement reflects the dedication of local nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to ensure the highest standard of care for mothers and their babies.
