PR – Grenada’s Chief Cultural Officer, Mr. Kelvin Jacob, and Trade Officer, Ms. Portia Fraser, are among four hundred and fifty-one delegates currently in Belgrade, Serbia, attending the Second International Planning Meeting for Expo 2027.
Participation in the March 10-12 preparatory meeting allows Grenada to remain actively engaged in the planning process and ensures that the country is well positioned to contribute meaningfully to the exposition.
Discussions are focused on pavilion concepts, cultural programming, national participation strategies, and timelines for implementation.
Expo 2027 will take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All.” The event will explore the role of play, creativity, music, and sport in fostering social cohesion, human development, and cultural exchange among nations.
The exposition will bring together participating countries to showcase innovations, cultural expressions, and collaborative ideas that highlight the importance of creativity and human interaction in building a sustainable and inclusive global society.
In addition to cultural exchange, the expo is expected to create opportunities for trade and investment, potentially opening doors for businesses long after the 93-day event concludes.
The first International Planning Meeting was held in June 2025 and was attended by Commissioner Gail Purcell and Deputy Commissioner Portia Fraser.
