PR – The Grenada Football Association (GFA) announces the return of the National Primary School Football Tournament, officially kicking off on Friday, September 26,  2025.

Making its long-awaited return, this eagerly anticipated competition will bring together over 50 primary  schools from across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. Matches will be held every Wednesday  and Friday from 1:30 PM over the course of two months, showcasing the energy, skill, and passion of  Grenada’s youngest footballers.

Reviving Grassroots Football

This revival is a landmark moment in the GFA’s ongoing mission to strengthen football’s grassroots  foundation. By creating pathways for young boys and girls to participate in structured competition, the  tournament is designed to foster teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship from an early age. The initiative  also highlights the Association’s commitment to youth engagement, education, and holistic player  development.

President’s Vision for Sustainable Growth

Speaking on the launch, Marlon Glean, President of the GFA, emphasized the importance of the  tournament in the wider football development agenda:

“The future of Grenadian football depends on the structures we build at the grassroots level. The National  Primary School Football Tournament is not just about today’s matches; it is about tomorrow’s national  teams. Our vision is to create sustainable opportunities for our youth, ensuring football remains a tool for  empowerment, education, and national pride.”

The Primary School Tournament forms part of the GFA’s long-term strategic plan to elevate football  standards domestically and regionally. This includes nurturing youth talent through school and community  competitions, enhancing grassroots coaching, and ensuring Grenada’s football ecosystem is built on  sustainable structures that will serve generations to come.

A Nationwide Movement

With the full participation of schools from Carriacou and Petite Martinique, the tournament represents a  truly national effort to revive the spirit of school football and reinforce the role of sport in community  building. Parents, teachers, and communities are expected to rally behind their young athletes, creating a  vibrant atmosphere that reflects Grenada’s love for football.

More to Come

Further details, including fixtures, venues, and participating primary schools, will be shared in the coming  days. The GFA invites the public to follow along and support this important chapter in Grenada’s football  journey.
