The Official Welcome Ceremony for Nigerian Medical Specialists.
The Government and People of Grenada, on Thursday morning expressed its delight and warm welcome to the esteemed team of 4 Nigerian medical specialist doctors to our shores
This ceremony took place at the Coyaba Beach Resort.
Foreign Affairs Minister, The Hon. Joseph Andall in his remarks thanked the President, Government, and People of Nigeria, adding that what is happening here today is another indication that, as a Government, we are taking major steps to “fix our current healthcare system.”
However, Health Minister The Hon. Philip Telesford in delivering his remarks described the move as being more than an exchange of expertise. “It is the convergence of purpose, history, and shared aspirations. As you join hands with our local medical personnel, your specialized knowledge and diverse experiences will enrich our capacity to respond more effectively to the health needs of our population. From our rural health centers to our secondary institutions, the ripple effect of this collaboration will be felt across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Therefore, as Minister for Health, I extend sincere thanks on behalf of the Government and People of Grenada to the Government and people of Nigeria and the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps for standing with Grenada not only in principle but in practice.
This coordination reflects the true essence of development diplomacy: responsive, intentional, and rooted in mutual respect.
Grenada is charting a bold path toward healthcare transformation, not for headlines, but for impact. We are enhancing service delivery, bridging critical gaps, and fostering innovation. This partnership, driven by technical exchange and human connection, aligns beautifully with our broader vision to make quality healthcare accessible and equitable.
Ladies and gentlemen, just as we embraced our Cuban brothers and sisters, today we extend our warmest embrace to our Nigerian family. You are not only our colleagues, you are part of our community. Whether in hospital wards, community clinics, or outreach programs, your contribution will be guided by compassion and anchored in solidarity.
This partnership adds a vital layer to the emerging tapestry of Pan-African-Caribbean cooperation. It signals to the world that we are charting our own course, built on solidarity, mutual respect, and shared destiny. In the long run, Grenada could become a hub for intercontinental health collaboration, advancing not just national goals but regional and global health equity.”
The team of Nigerian medical professionals comprises (2) Nephrologists, (1) Orthopedic Specialist, and (2) Anesthesiologist/ICU experts. They will work together with our Grenadian professionals to deliver top-tier, multi-specialty care to our citizens.
