Progress is being made in rebuilding homes and infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Beryl on the islands of Carriacou and Martinique.
In Petite Martinique, the first four (4) houses have been delivered to families living there. Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Tevin Andrews, emphasized the need for continued support, stating that more help and hands are required to aid in the recovery process.
While progress is being made, patience and understanding from residents are also crucial, the Minister added.
Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Leanwall Perrotte, said that while government received what is termed โCCRIF payoutโโ, the money was divided into different sectors; therefore, the recovery is financed mainly by taxpayers and we are all making a sacrifice to in the islands recovery, he said.
The beneficiaries Stenna Tillock, Cassilda Mitchell, Lucy Clement and Joshua Felix all expressed their appreciation for their new homes.
