The Stakeholders Consultation for Grenada’s five-year National Drug Policy is relying much on preventative strategies and treatment, among remedies to help curb problems of use and abuse.

The in-person Consultation at the Grenada Youth Centre Conference room for the drafting of the National Drug Policy is organized by the Drug Control Secretariat of the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission.

The National Drug Policy Grenada is in alignment with the 2020 OAS Hemispheric Drug Strategy and accompanying Plan of Action (2021–2025).

As it relates to the two-day exercise, Wee FM News Desk had word with Elizabeth Japal, the Drug Control Officer at the Ministry of Education on the sidelines of the consultation.

Japal stressed, as a secretariat, being proactive is essential for effectively addressing various societal challenges.

When the consultation resumes tomorrow, participants will focus on drug policy pillars, Drug Supply Reduction and Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
