PR – Work is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 2, 2026, to upgrade the vendors’ booth at Bathway, St. Patrick, with a focus on enhancing the building’s appearance and improving the structural integrity of the walkway.
The project is being undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture.
To facilitate the initial phase of work, the vendors’ booth will be closed for one week starting Monday.
The overall project is expected to be completed within two weeks.
Contractor, Emmanuel Jason Pascal explained that major upgrades will include the replacement of the entire floor and railing, an essential improvement as the area prepares to welcome increased visitor traffic for the Easter holiday period. “We’re removing the entire floor and replacing it. We will also power wash the building and carry out painting work,” Pascal said.
Vendor Gillian Gilbert, who has operated at the facility for the past eight years, welcomed the planned upgrades. “We receive a high number of visitors, and many times they are looking for a comfortable space to sit and enjoy their meals, but the current setup does not adequately cater for that,” she noted.
The project will provide temporary employment for five individuals.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture will also undertake enhancement work along the Carenage in St. George’s.
Work is set to begin on Saturday, February 28, with the demolition of the first two of eight planters to facilitate the construction of new ones. It is expected to be completed in three to four weeks.
One planter is located opposite the Fire Department in St. George’s, while the other is situated opposite Kayam’s Tyres.
