Fans of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martiniqueโs diverse marine life and excellent dive sites still have the opportunity to enjoy the Pure Grenada Dive Fest as the 4thย edition goes virtual.
Following the cancellation of the physical event this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Grenada Scuba Diving Association (GSDA), supported by the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) and Grenada Hotel & Tourism Association (GHTA), decided to host a virtual experience for everyone looking forward to the festival over the next four weeks.
Pure Dive Fest โThe Virtual Experienceโ will take viewers toย Out of this Worldย dive sites, showing them the diversity of the destinationโs healthy marine eco-system and inspire people to take the plunge and join us underwater. From 25thย September to 25thย October, enthusiasts can follow the virtual action by tuning into Pure Divingโs Facebook or Instagram profiles @grenadapurediving.
Pure Dive Fest launched on September 25, coinciding with the anniversary of the sinking of the Tyrrell Bay wreck. She is the latest addition to the destinationโs wreck loversโ portfolio of amazing dive sites in Grenada and Carriacou. A video was posted on social media to share the story about her interesting service life to the people of Grenada, her โcleanโ sinking, and her continued contribution to the destination as being a wonderful and popular attraction as an artificial reef.
โBeginners Dive Dayโ will be the only live event to be hosted this year. An excited group of Grenadian non-divers have been invited to experience a scuba diving lesson in a swimming pool. Stay tuned to find out who will go diving for the first time. Then, the Pure Dive Fest 2020 culminates on the 59th anniversary of the sinking of the โTitanic of the Caribbeanโ, the Biancaย C on October 24.
Nautical Development Manager at the GTA Nikoyan Roberts praised the GSDA for pivoting the market promotion of Grenadaโs national scuba diving event saying, โThe GDSA team must be congratulated on reviewing innovations to remain relevant with potential dive visitors, especially millennials, and share our pristine coral reefs, healthy marine life and amazing wrecks for discovery and adventure digitally.โ
Chief Executive Officer at the GTA, Patricia Maher, confirmed that five out of a total of nine Dive Operators in the destination are open for business and this is a great time for locals to learn to dive and for visitors to see what makes diving in Grenada so popular.
