PR – The Grenada National Swim Team has regained the OECS Swimming Championship from reigning title holder, Antigua & Barbuda. This win is significant as it is the team’s first title since 2019, after which there was two years break in competition during the COVID period. The swimming championships competition held at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre in St. Vincent this past weekend, November 7 – 9th, ended with Team Grenada took home 84 medals while amassing a total of 1263.50 points over second place St. Lucia with 1239 points, followed by Antigua & Barbuda 1117, St. Kitts & Nevis 160, Dominica 72 and Anguilla 8 points. In addition to the championship title Grenada captured five overall age group winners.
Capturing the age group championships were 8 and under girl Brianne De Roche, 9 to 10 boy Mateo Thomas, 13 to 14 girl, Kristin Gresham, 13 to 14 boy, Jacob Collymore, and 18 and over male, Zackary Gresham.
The team also captured three overall third positions by 8 and Under girl, Sydney Joseph, 11 to 12 boy, Ethan Chu Fook and 18 and Over female, Anaika Otway.
The majority of the team returned to Grenada on Sunday evening following an afternoon of much jubilation, excitiment, and strong support from parents and well wishers, who gathered to witness the, very commendable performances by every swimmer on the team.
The Grenada Amateur Swimming Association is extremely proud of its swimmers and commends them for their hard work and excellent performances.The association extend appreciation to the Government of Grenada for its ongoing support toward the team’s participation in the championship. Additional support was also facilitated by corporate partners that include the Investment Migration Agency, Go Mobility, Pure Sports Grenada, and Geo F Huggins. Specials thanks to all the parents and other well wishers for their much-needed support and dedication which has greatly contributed the team’s success.
The remaining team members are to return to Grenada on Monday November 10th 2025.
