The historic Carenage was transformed into a joyful celebration of fathers, culture, and community spirit on Sunday, 15 June, 2025, as hundreds gathered for the second annual We Pan Fest, hosted by Senator the Honourable Claudette Joseph and the Town Community.
The Father’s Day celebration drew families, visitors, and pan lovers from across the nation to the Pedestrian Plaza, where a vibrant mix of steel band music, local performances, and heartfelt moments created an unforgettable atmosphere.
The event’s high point came when Senator Claudette Joseph joined Blaka Dan on stage, surprising the audience with a soulful rendition of Blessing. Later, Dash delivered an emotional performance of his winning hit and 2024 Road March, inviting children from the audience to sing along—word for word—making for one of the most touching scenes of the evening.
Four of Grenada’s top steel bands, Co-op Bank Commancheros, Blast Pan Wizards, Republic Bank Angel Harps and reigning Panorama Champions Nexa New Dimension electrified the crowd with performances that showcased the brilliance and legacy of pan music in Grenada.
Senator Joseph also took the time to honour fathers in the audience with surprise giveaways. Among the recipients was a 90-year-old father who, fittingly, is a beloved member of Grenada’s pan fraternity. “This event is about celebrating the people who shape our communities, while giving life to the picturesque harbour in the heart of St. George’s,” said Senator Joseph.
Community vendors lined the Carenage with a variety of food, drinks, artisanal products, and homemade treats, adding warmth and authenticity to the experience. The event not only honoured fathers but also revived the spirit of togetherness in the heart of town, reinforcing The Carenage as a space for cultural pride and community celebration.
Senator Joseph expressed her intention to make We Pan Fest an annual fixture with plans to expand the event into a full-scale competition in the future, building on the success of this year’s gathering.
