Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, speaks of an easement in the COVID-19 regulations as Grenada continues to grapple with the woes of the coronavirus.
He was addressing the Nation this morning, as the country ends another curfew restriction period.
He noted that his Cabinet made the decision to lighten up on the restrictions based on a noticeable trend that the rate of infection continues a decline.
Over the coming two-week period there will be a relaxation in the daily curfew time by one hour in the morning and the time for beaches and other measures directed to resume some measure of normalcy.
According to him, the road to recovery will be long and steep.
The Prime Minister says Grenada is emerging from what will likely be recorded as one of the darkest periods in the country’s history.
He expresses confidence that even though Grenada is encountering a rough time with COVID-19, as a people the country will get through this.
Dr. Mitchell says one of the most painful elements of this crisis is the number of deaths that occurred in a short space of time.
He extended condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.
Prime Minister Mitchell says despite the loss of lives he’s grateful that many have recovered from the deadly COVID-19 virus.
