Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, responds to claims made by Warren Newfield, who tendered his resignation yesterday as Grenadaโs Ambassador-at-large and Consul General to Florida.
Newfield, the owner of Kawana Bay Hotel, set up under the CBI Programme, in justifying his departure from the Ambassadorial role, accused the Grenada Government of being transformed into an โanti-business regimeโ.
Newfield also complained about the ICSID GRENLEC Arbitration 65-million-dollar award, as well as Grenadaโs doing business ranking.
Dr. Mitchell, speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives today, noted that Newfield resigned because he was not allowed to have his way.
Dr. Mitchell says Newfieldโs behaviour was inconsistent with his Ambassadorial position.
Dr. Mitchell says heโs proud of the CBI programme, and spoke of an added clause that makes it beneficial.
Newfield had slammed the Government for what he referred to as โdisregarding investor rightsโ, which Dr. Mitchell denies, explaining further in detail what possibly brought the fall-out.
