Police continue investigations into what could have caused a fire that destroyed a dwelling house in Paradise, St. Andrew, last evening.

Reports are that the concrete and wooden structure was completely gutted.

Members of the fire department are said to have responded to a distress call, but on arrival, the house was already engulfed by the blaze.

The sole occupant of the house, a Police Officer attached to the Praedial Larceny Task Force in St. David, was not at home at the time.

The total estimate of damages is yet to be calculated.

In a news conference yesterday, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Edvin Martin, expressed concern over the spate of fires, with the advent of the New Year.
