0

As announced in May 2024, the regularisation process will be conducted in three distinct phases with phase 1 nearing completion. This phase identified a total of 522 accounts.

To date, more than ten thousand paper-based records have been uploaded to a new, computerisedΒ  system.

The Land Tenure Regularisation programme can now report that it is making steady progressΒ  towards issuing the first set of titles for occupiers of crown lands within Phase 1 of the programme.

The following process has been completed:

  1. Received cabinet approval for the allotment of parcels of crown lands to one hundred andΒ  eight (108) individuals.
  2. Identified usable survey plans within the Lands and Surveys Department or contractedΒ  surveyors to undertake surveys and draft plans for over one hundred people who areΒ  awaiting survey plans for the preparation of the title deeds.

III. Contracted the services of three private lawyers to expedite the preparation of deeds ofΒ  titles for review by the Attorney General’s Chambers and signature by Her Excellency theΒ  Governor-General.

  1. Made recommendations to Cabinet and is working with the Housing Authority of GrenadaΒ  to regularise the tenure of the residents of La Calome, St David.
  2. Obtained approval for the occupiers of the crown allotment of lands in Berrot, St. David.

In moving the process forward, Land Tenure Regularisation Field Officers will, in the next fewΒ  weeks, contact persons to advise on the next steps to finalise the preparation and handover of theΒ  title deeds which will complete Phase 1 of the project.

In keeping with the existing process for the registration of a title deed at the Supreme CourtΒ  Registry, all outstanding property taxes are to be paid, and the receipt should be stamped.

The Land Tenure Regularisation Programme is urging all persons who have completed paymentΒ  for lands allotted to them by the Government and who have not been issued a title deed and haveΒ  not yet been contacted by field officers to contact the office via telephone onΒ 440-2708.

The programme will now move into Phase 2 thereafter, and additional details will be provided,Β  along with a comprehensive listing of all existing crown land settlements.
