139 Cases Are Down For Deliberation In The January Assizes Which Opened Today

Some 139 cases are down for deliberation in the January Assizes which opened today.

Off the 139 cases, court records reveal 121 were traversed from the October Assizes 2017, which concluded December in the same year.

According to a report taken from the Now Grenada website, in 8 of the 121 matters the accused were found guilty or pleaded guilty and will be sentenced tomorrow in the Number 2 high court.

Among them are Dave Benjamin charged for the January 2016 murder of US National, Jessica Coker around the La Sagesse beach; Akim Frank accused of the killing of Canadian Linnea Veinotte in 2015; Phillip Baptiste on a non-capital murder charge for killing his uncle, Glen Baptiste and Denroy Smith who was found guilty of Causing the death of Paul Alexander of St. Paul’s.

We also understand that 55 of the 139 cases relate to offenses of a sexual nature.
