The Ministry of Agriculture is said to be mobilizing all forces in the sector for this yearβs World Food Day celebration to be a bumper affair.
The activity will be held this Sunday from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon at the Pedestrian Plaza on the Carenage, St. Georgeβs.
The theme for this World Food Day observance is βClimate is changingβ¦food and Agriculture Must tooβ.
It highlights what is the vast potential that exists in adapting agriculture to climate change, whereas it underlines why food security needs to be prioritized specifically in Grenada and other countriesβ climate action plans.
There will be the usual display of agricultural produce and/or products, a portrayal of the agricultural sector, where the efforts of the Ministry, in collaboration with farmers, are geared at making it sustainable as the life-blood of the Nation.
Over the years, thereβs been the thrust to have a nation and its economy fully secured by strengthened the agriculture and have more peopleβs awareness about the need to place emphasis on feeding the countryβs inhabitants as priority.
Itβs even moreso important now with the climate change phenomenon.
The activities on World Food Day will among other things show why investments in sustainable agricultural practices will help address this whole issue of climate change.
