The House of representatives is set to convene June 17, 2025 for debate on several amendment bills.
On the agenda are the Banking (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Bank Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Grenada Tourism Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
In view of a Grenada Government schedule relative to bank holidays for 2025, it’s noticeable that the 1st of August is a holiday, taking into consideration commemoration of the actual date of the abolishment of slavery, called Emancipation Day.
Usually, the Grenada observance of emancipation day was on the first Monday of August, which also encompassed the famed Rainbow City Festival affair.
The legislation to resume the observance of 1 August of any year as of 2025 as a holiday in commemoration of Emancipation Day, will be debated.
