PR – On Thursday December 4th, 2025 the Grenada Public Workers Union (GPWU) served formal notice of its intent to engage in industrial action to the T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC). This action follows the College’s failure to honour negotiated salary increases and retroactive payments owed to GPWU represented employees for the year 2025, despite repeated dialogue and a non-negotiable deadline of December 8th, 2025 communicated on November 26, 2025.

Workers have been denied their rightful increases for twelve (12) months, creating an untenable situation that has gravely undermined morale, motivation, and trust.

The Union also expresses deep concern over recent breaches ofgood faith bargaining, including unprofessional conduct during a call with the Chair on December 1,2025, and actions that sought to bypass the Union’s role as the exclusive bargaining agent.

The GPWU remains committed to industrial peace but cannot sustain this commitment in the face of persistent breaches. Under Section 50 of the Employment Act, Cap 89 (Act No. 14 of 1999, as amended), and the Labour Relations Act, Cap 157A, workers have the right to take industrial action where good faith efforts at resolution have failed.

Unless full payment is effected by the stipulated deadline, GPWU will have no alternative but to take appropriate industrial action in defense of its members’ interests. The Union also stands in solidari8 with members of the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT) who are similarly affected.

GPWU calls on TAMCC to act swiftly and decisively to aveft disruption and restore confidence by honoring its obligations.

At the time of this release, the Union received notice from the Office of the Labour Commissioner that TAMCC has referred the matter to conciliation.
