During the International Civil Aviation OrganizationΒ (ICAO) Facilitation Conference, Honourable Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister and Minister forΒ Civil Aviation, signed the second of two Air Services Agreements between Grenada and the StateΒ of Qatar. This historic agreement is the culmination of what began in 2023, when Grenada signedΒ an MOU with Qatar to establish this bilateral Air Services Agreement.
The agreement was signed in Doha, Qatar, on April 14, by Hon. Dickon Mitchell and Minister forΒ Transport, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Mohammed Al Thani, representing the State ofΒ Qatar.
This agreement will allow Grenada and the State of Qatar to improve their ability to provideΒ seamless travel and trade between both countries through direct flights and codeshare agreements.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to Mr. Marlon Carter for the hard work he has beenΒ doing as the lone civil aviation officer within the Ministry of Infrastructure, Civil Aviation andΒ Transportation. He further highlighted that the signing of this agreement will enhance theΒ partnership and collaboration between Grenada and the State of Qatar.
βTodayβs signing marks the culmination of two and a half years of hard work and provides anΒ opportunity for us to pursue direct flights between the Gulf States and Grenada and the rest of theΒ Caribbean region,β the prime minister remarked.
These Air Service Agreements with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar align withΒ Grenadaβs broader vision to modernise its air transport industry, open new markets and enhanceΒ its position as a regional aviation hub.
