Empowering Women And Girls: Elevate Her Launches In St. Andrew

April 15th, 2025 marked the official launch of ElevateΒ  Her, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women and girls through career mentorship,Β  skills training and development, and leadership. The launch event was held at the Deluxe CinemaΒ  in St Andrew, drawing a full house of participants, supporters, dignitaries, and community leaders.

The Elevate Her programme, designed to foster personal and professional growth among youngΒ  women across the tri-island state, is a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.Β  It will equip participants with the tools and support needed while positively boosting theirΒ  confidence and self-esteem to thrive in various spheres of society.

The programme will be a blended approach that will integrate life skills, literacy and numeracy,Β  theory and practical elements into the training sessions.

The event was attended by Acting Prime Minister Hon. Andy Williams, Minister of Youth andΒ  Sports Hon. Delma Thomas, Attorney General Hon. Claudette Joseph, Minister for EconomicΒ  Development Hon. Lennox Andrew, Senator Seville Francis, Senator Quinc Britton, andΒ  Permanent Secretary, Ms Kim Frederick.

The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed guest speaker Annmarie Montrose, whoΒ  emphasised the need for women to be go-getters. She stated, β€œThe future is not something we waitΒ  for; it is something we build – together!”

In her remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports emphasised the importance of creating spacesΒ  where young women can be nurtured, empowered, and celebrated.

β€œElevate Her is not about giving a handout; it is about unlocking the power that already existsΒ  within our women. It is about ensuring that our girls grow up in a world where leadership,Β  innovation, and education are not just dreams.”

The minister also stressed that β€œa strong nation cannot exist when half its population is pushedΒ  aside to the sidelines. Elevate Her is about national strength, unity and progress.”

The first cohort of 200 participants includes unemployed women across Grenada, who will benefitΒ  from hands-on training in the agriculture, health, and hospitality sectors for no more than 18Β  months.

The Government of Grenada is dedicated to empowering young people through innovation andΒ  sustainable development with its strong focus on education and skills training. The Elevate HerΒ  programme aligns with Vision 75 in realising the full potential of our nation’s citizens.
