April 15th, 2025 marked the official launch of Elevateย Her, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women and girls through career mentorship,ย skills training and development, and leadership. The launch event was held at the Deluxe Cinemaย in St Andrew, drawing a full house of participants, supporters, dignitaries, and community leaders.
The Elevate Her programme, designed to foster personal and professional growth among youngย women across the tri-island state, is a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.ย It will equip participants with the tools and support needed while positively boosting theirย confidence and self-esteem to thrive in various spheres of society.
The programme will be a blended approach that will integrate life skills, literacy and numeracy,ย theory and practical elements into the training sessions.
The event was attended by Acting Prime Minister Hon. Andy Williams, Minister of Youth andย Sports Hon. Delma Thomas, Attorney General Hon. Claudette Joseph, Minister for Economicย Development Hon. Lennox Andrew, Senator Seville Francis, Senator Quinc Britton, andย Permanent Secretary, Ms Kim Frederick.
The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed guest speaker Annmarie Montrose, whoย emphasised the need for women to be go-getters. She stated, โThe future is not something we waitย for; it is something we build โ together!โ
In her remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports emphasised the importance of creating spacesย where young women can be nurtured, empowered, and celebrated.
โElevate Her is not about giving a handout; it is about unlocking the power that already existsย within our women. It is about ensuring that our girls grow up in a world where leadership,ย innovation, and education are not just dreams.โ
The minister also stressed that โa strong nation cannot exist when half its population is pushedย aside to the sidelines. Elevate Her is about national strength, unity and progress.โ
The first cohort of 200 participants includes unemployed women across Grenada, who will benefitย from hands-on training in the agriculture, health, and hospitality sectors for no more than 18ย months.
