The Government of Grenada, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, recently hosted an official Youth Recognition and Inspiration Ceremony to honour the 2025 CARIFTA Games athletes and coaches.
In a powerful display of national pride at the Radisson Crown Ballroom, the ceremony highlighted the exceptional discipline, dedication, and talent of the young athletes who brought home twenty-four (24) medals from the regional games where Grenada placed 4th overall.
It celebrated the achievements of 49 athletes who proudly represented the country in track and field and swimming, and 15 coaches who offered training and mentorship to the athletes.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Delma Thomas was elated to celebrate the full team of athletes who proudly represented Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
She said “the celebration is not just about victories, but the vision, commitment and the unstoppable spirit of the Grenadian youth. Every athlete who wore our national colours carried the hope and pride of our nation that is worth honouring.”
The Minister for Youth and Sports used the opportunity to announce a new programme titled “Pathway to Champion” which will be launched to provide long term support and mentorship to athletes of all sporting disciplines.
Prime Minister, Hon. Dickon Mitchell praised the athletes, and emphasised Government’s commitment to continued investment in youth and sports development. His speech enveloped
the efforts and sacrifice that federations, clubs, parents and coaches have made to propel sports in Grenada.
The Prime Minister congratulated and thanked them for their unwavering contribution to keeping the Grenada flag flying high in the region and internationally. “The world is watching. This is truly a global village and at any given time, somebody somewhere in the world can find inspiration and motivation from what you are doing”, Prime Minister Mitchell said.
All athletes received certificates of recognition, while medallists were presented with commemorative plaques as well as gift vouchers in the form of educational support. Coaches were honoured for their steadfast guidance and mentorship.
Special acknowledgments were given to the youngest CARIFTA track and field athletes Kazim Telesford and Arinna James, as well as Swimmers Ethan Gunpot and Angeliner Jackson Bain. The Most Outstanding Grenadian Athletes of the 2025 CARIFTA Games were D’ Angelo Brown in track and field and Tilly Collymore in swimming.
