The Grenada Accredited Directors’ Association Inc. (GADA) made history on Monday, May 19, 2025, with its inaugural meeting at the Grenada Trade Centre, marking the first organization of its kind in the Eastern Caribbean Region dedicated to promoting best practices in corporate governance standards among directors of Statutory Bodies, State-owned Enterprises and private sector bodies in Grenada.

The landmark gathering saw the election of GADA’s first official board of directors, replacing the interim leadership led by Director Richard Duncan Acc. Dir. and Interim President Director Denisha Daniel Acc. Dir., that guided the organization through its establishment phase.

The newly elected Board of Directors:

L-R (Sitting): President: Isabel Morris Acc. Dir, Vice President: Denisha Daniel Acc. Dir., Secretary: Tiffany Charles Acc. Dir.

L-R (Standing): Treasurer: Richardson Holder Acc. Dir., Justin Hazzard Acc. Dir., Brent Mc Intosh Acc. Dir., Richard Duncan Acc. Dir.

Members also approved several foundational resolutions, including the adoption of By-Law No. 1 and waiving entrance fees for directors registered by March 31, 2025.

Following the inaugural meeting, a Certificate Presentation Ceremony honored twenty-four new directors from Statutory Bodies and State-owned Enterprises who completed the prestigious Directors’ Education and Accreditation Program (DEAP). This specialized training, delivered by the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) in partnership with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC) from March 24-26, 2025, equips public and private sector leaders with advanced governance skills.

The ceremony featured addresses from distinguished speakers:

  • Mr. Trevor E. Blake, CEO of the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange
  • Mrs. Janis Riven, faculty member of the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada
  • The Honorable Denis Cornwall, Minister for Finance, who delivered the feature address and pledged his unwavering support to the continued improvement of corporate governance throughout Grenada.

“This occasion represents a watershed moment for corporate governance in Grenada’s public institutions,” said Isabel Morris, President of GADA. “By formalizing our association, we’re creating a platform to elevate directorship practices and strengthen institutional governance across our nation.”

GADA aims to establish best practices in corporate governance, provide ongoing professional development opportunities, and build a network of governance professionals committed to excellence in public sector leadership.
